Founded in 1982, Northwest Partitions (NWP) is a full-service union commercial wall and ceiling contractor, specializing in metal stud framing, insulation, drywall applications, painting, wall covering, and acoustical ceilings.  With decades of industry expertise, NWP has become a trusted leader in Washington, recognized for delivering exceptional craftsmanship, innovative solutions, and unmatched service.

James Kahler, who took the helm in 2018, continues the legacy established by his father, Rick Kahler. While Rick laid the foundation with a vision of creating project value through superior quality and service, James has propelled NWP into a new era. Under James’ leadership, NWP remains committed to its core values of Safety, Ownership, Respect, Quality, Integrity, and Teamwork, which drive the company’s success and growth.

JAMES KAHLER
PRESIDENT & CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

As the second-generation owner and leader of Northwest Partitions, James Kahler is dedicated to elevating the company through a passion for collaboration, technology, and team development. His leadership is focused on driving growth while delivering world-class service to clients. Known for his meticulous attention to detail and thoughtful approach, James consistently works to enhance NWP’s people, processes, and projects.

James holds a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from the University of Washington. He is also a current Director of the Northwest Wall and Ceiling Contractors Association and Northwest Wall and Ceiling Bureau. He previously served as a Trustee for the Western Washington Painters Defined Contribution Pension Trust and Director of the American Subcontractors Association of Washington.

His portfolio includes an impressive roster of clients such as Amazon, Boeing, Google, Kemper Development, Microsoft, Tableau, the University of Washington, and numerous high-profile public entities and individuals.

Outside of work, James enjoys riding his Peloton, wine tasting, and spending quality time with his family.
